What Is Faith

What is faith? If you notice, I start many articles with a question. I believe that one must understand the subject to get involved with the conversation. They must understand it from where they are, with their prospective, through Faith courage-853466_640their own eyes. Faith is not what we see, it is what we do not see, but what we know from deep inside. Faith- Do You Believe In Faith?

What is faith to you? If you think about this for very long, you know that our entire life is that of faith. You may not believe in faith or God from a spiritual perspective, or that faith exists in you, but I am here to show you that it does, always has and always will.

Definition of Faith – Oxford Dictionaries

  1. Complete trust or confidence in someone or something.

Synonyms: trust- belief-confidence, conviction-optimism

  1. Strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof. (I believe proof is in the Bible, and I have seen faith work with prayer.)

Here is why:

When you go to bed at night, you have usually planned something for the morrow. Going to work is on you agenda, getting that promotion or meeting with the CEO. You have plans and we all do every day for something or someone. Without realizing it, you are having faith that you will wake up, and complete those plans.

When you take that lunch break and decide to walk to the restaurant without even realizing it, or thinking about it, you have put your trust in the fact you will return. Your faith is telling you to go ahead and cross the street as the red light is on, it is safe, and no car will sail through the intersection.

When you give your spouse or child a hug in the morning and tell them that you will see them in the evening, you are having faith that you will make it through the day.

Everything in life is about faith. We have no guarantees in the life that we live for anything more than the moment. Not one moment do we have that is a certainty that our life will continue as it is. In one moment’s time, everything about our life can change. Therefore, we live by faith. We live by faith because we cannot live in fear.

It is normal not to think about it, we are not supposed to be afraid to cross the street, drive the car, or go to bed at night thinking about dying. No, we are not but what we should realize is that our faith exists and we should enhance it further with in our life.

Faith is a beautiful thing. It is a gift, and yes, it is from God. If we did not have faith about the natural things we do in life, where would we be.  We believe that our spouse will love us until we die. We have confidence that if we work hard enough, we will have our needs. We would want to stay home everyday so that we were not in dangers way if we did not believe, trust in something.

Faith keeps us going. It is faith that tells us to get up in morning and go about our daily task of living our life in the minute-to-minute process. If it is not trust, confidence, or belief in something, then you tell me what it is.Trust Pixabay

We do not want to argue the point at all, what we are simply saying is that faith is present in our life from the time we are born until the time we die. Your belief is yours, and you have the right to believe what you will.

Let me go a little bit further with this thing called, “faith.”  If you are a Christian then you know where it comes from. Faith is described per religious individuals the instrument that God uses to bring salvation to all people. The Bible clearly indicates that faith is a gift.

In Hebrews, Chapter 11, Verse 1: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

One of my favorite books is by Dr. Peter Shepherd, “Transforming The Mind.” In this book, he talks about “The Insight Project,” and this is an exact statement from the book that I have about this the insight project. The latter is a course that you can take re: Dr. Shepherd’s website.

”We affirm that man’s nature is essentially spiritual but that it is no good seeking for spiritual things until we can distinguish the spiritual from the mundane.”

In other words, it is about self-discovery. I do believe that if you were to look within, you would find your spiritual self, and the faith, which keeps you going.

So, if you do not believe you have a spiritual self, it will be hard for you to believe in faith. It could be that you do not know yourself very well. So many people do not take the time to look at who they really are, who they once were, or who they might become without discipline. That is part of Life Coaching and finding our best self.

Example: Have you ever been with someone who has just gotten the worst news in his or her entire life and you heard the words; “Oh, God help me?” If so, you may not have realized it at the time, but those words are a sign of faith, a sign of a spiritual essence within that person. It is a sign of believing in a God who has all power and who will answer.

Thank you Jaime. I appreciate your thoughts and you inspire me. It makes my heart glad when someone takes a stand for Christ. I will be writing more frequently on The Christian Network also, thanks to you! I will see you around and I will be writing more inspiration here. I just added this category recently.

One of my favorite verses is Hebrews 11:1. I am not quite sure how people go from day to day not having faith. I have grown up with a faith and can not imagine facing the difficulties of this life without the hope of my Saving Father in Heaven. Thank you for sharing with us at Sitting Among Friends on Wednesdays. I look forward to seeing more posts. Welcome to our little community.
