I know that not every person believes the same way. I realize that many people believe because their parents taught them about God. Some people go to church, worship, pray, and know that Jesus died on the cross for their sins. Then of course, there others who are uncertain, and have never tried to gain the peace of knowing.
For me, it is simple. Yes, I was a minister’s daughter. I learned that the Word of God was our guideline. No, I have not always followed in perfect harmony with what I was taught or believed. This post is to help anyone who is not at peace with themselves, to look at their heart and soul to live with intention or purpose.
Living With Purpose or Intention
Today I reflect back again to a book I have written by Brain Luke Seaward, PH.D., Stand Like Mountain Flow Like Water. You can purchase here: Stand Like Mountain, Flow Like Water: Reflections on Stress and Human Spirituality Revised and Expanded Tenth Anniversary Edition
This book talks about the reflections on stress and human spirituality. In this book the author talks about how many people live very differently than they actually believe. However, very often do not realize the magnitude until they experience a life threatening illness or just a common life altering, mind-blowing event.
We humans often get too busy in life, adjusting to the everyday life things that help us lose our way. We forget that to stay more purposeful, or should I say; more in tune with our beliefs, who we are, and what we are here for. People often forget that one needs to make a time in their schedule for those things which pass not away or change over time.
When you are in an event that is causing great and sudden damage or suffering, it can appear to be too late. Hopelessness takes control of the mind, and regrets slip in. Often it reminds a person they did not take the time to enjoy the life they had. They did not pursue clarity for living the life they intended to live. They fell into a rut, accepted mediocre, and just made the best of it.
It is never too late until we breathe no more, there is always hope in changing things that cause our departure from living with purpose.
Where Does One Start To Live With More Purpose
- The best place that I believe to start living intentionally, and with purpose is by looking within your soul. Your soul is the place where you hold all the hidden disappointments, confusion, sadness, pain, disgust, and the moments that brought you the most happiness.
Read Something To Enlighten –
Asks yourself what is God’s intention for me. There is a good answer here:
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11
This is what David said about the Lord:
“Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance.” Psalms 32:7
“Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about.” Psalms 32:10
- You must decide (if you do not already), that Jesus Christ exists in a Heavenly form, and that He can help you change your life to living with purpose. When nothing else works, you will find that He never sleeps, you can call upon Him any time, and any place. It is wise to do so daily, and not wait until trouble strikes.
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13
“I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.” John 10:9
“And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Acts 2: 21
- It always helps to make time in your life for reading about God’s love in the Bible. The Word gives you His intentions for you, how He will preserve you, through your love for Him.
Read The Word—-
“Thou will keep him in perfect peace; whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26:3
- Finding time to be alone and invest in your souls desire to live with purpose by offering up thanksgiving, praise and prayer to God. To find grace in the Lord’s eyes we must first pray the prayer of repentance. Once we have come to Him for mercy and grace, it is our duty to offer up thanksgiving for His daily care.
Living a life with thought and purpose, means that we are taking a time for our soul’s sake. Our purpose should be God’s will for our life. To live, love, pray, and reap the joy of knowing a God who can and will cover us in all life things.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6: 33- Luke 12: 31 *All scripture is KJV
